Raw Avantic Extended XL
Raw Evolv is the next generation of the Avantic platform – now built around a stronger steel construction and a more modular machine base.
The machine is available in two lengths: 2000 mm and 3000 mm. The width is a generous 1400 mm, giving a wide cutting area of 1260 mm. Each machine is built from 1000 mm long steel modules, creating a stable construction while making the platform more flexible over time. If your needs change, the machine can be extended with additional modules instead of replacing it with a completely new machine.
Evolv builds on the same core idea as Raw Avantic Extended: a robust, affordable and flexible CNC machine for serious use. The difference is that Avantic is now moving into a new generation, with a self-supporting steel base, improved transport options and a construction better suited for future upgrades.
The machine is delivered pre-assembled in larger sections. This means that the critical parts are assembled, adjusted and prepared by us, while the final assembly is completed on site by the customer. The installation is significantly easier than a traditional kit and mainly involves joining the sections, connecting the prepared parts and performing a final check. Normally, this only takes a few hours, depending on the machine size and the conditions on site.
Raw Avantic Evolv is the new direction for how Avantic machines will be built going forward: stronger, more modular and better suited for customers who want a CNC machine that can grow with them over time.

The text below refers to our Extended model.
Evolv is a further development of Avantic Extended, but built with a new modular steel construction. More images and information about Evolv will be available soon.

2.2 kW Spindle (Optional)
Air-cooled 2.2 kW spindle with integrated VFD, fully connected to the rest of the machine electronics. This spindle allows you to use tools from1–13 mm (ER20), giving you a wide working range for many different jobs.
We recommend the air-cooled version because it is simple to use, low-maintenance, and performs just as well when cutting wood and aluminum.
When purchasing the spindle, we also include a spindle mount and dust shoe at no extra cost. The dust shoe comes with a 100 mm connection, but can easily be reduced to 50 mm if needed. It helps collect dust efficiently and also protects the user from chips and debris.

Calibration
Raw Avantic Extended XL is equipped with dedicated safety, homing, and calibration switches designed to improve both precision and operational safety. The machine uses proximity switches with no mechanical moving parts, making them highly reliable, low-maintenance, and extremely accurate. This allows the machine to return to its home position with very high repeatability.
The safety switches are there to prevent the machine from traveling beyond its intended limits. If an overtravel situation occurs, the system immediately stops the machine and shuts off the spindle, helping protect both the machine and the operator.

Precision and material
CNC precision depends on both the machine and how it is used. The result is affected by drawings, CAM settings, tooling, spindle speed, feed rate, workholding and material.
Raw Evolv is built for high accuracy in wood, plastics, sheet materials and similar applications.
Repeatability: typically around ±0.05–0.10 mm with a correctly set up and calibrated machine.
Aluminium can be machined, but it requires the right tooling, correct cutting parameters and experience, regardless of the CNC machine being used.
Is it difficult to work with a CNC machine?
No, it’s simple. Raw Avantic is one of the easiest machines to work with on the market. We have placed great emphasis on making the machines as easy to operate as possible. You do not need to have previous knowledge or education. The only difficult thing is to draw your parts, the rest is easy. Once you have cut your first piece, you will understand. Watch our videos on the website and YouTube to see how easy it is to work with a Raw Avantic machine

Linear guide rail
Avantic Extended is supplied with 20mm guide rails and blocks of Hiwin type. Guide rails have an extreme precision that ensures that the shafts do not “play” and are preferable to other solutions.
Guide rails enable extreme speeds and precision. Expensive industrial machines run exclusively with guide rails and there is a good reason for that.
Each block can be lubricated individually with machine grease or spray grease that is sprayed directly onto the rails.

Consumption table (Waste board)
To keep both cost and shipping down, the machine is supplied without a wasteboard as standard. Instead, you get access to ready-made files so you can cut the board yourself in the material of your choice, such as MDF. A common setup is a 12 mm baseboard with a 16–19 mm replaceable wasteboard on top.
For users who want to take things further, we also offer vacuum tables as an optional upgrade. We have also created a video showing how to build your own wasteboard in practice: Build your own Wasteboard

Closed loop or Hybrid servo motors
Choose between standard NEMA 24 stepper motors or NEMA 23 closed loop hybrid servo motors.
Closed loop hybrid servo motors can self-correct to help prevent the machine from losing position.
This machine uses a 2:1 gear reduction on each motor.
Do you need the more expensive hybrid servo motors?
No, not necessarily. Modern electronics are very reliable, and with a correctly set up machine, standard stepper motors rarely lose position. Standard NEMA 24 motors are more than enough for most users.
The closed loop option is available for those who prefer the extra feedback and security of a closed loop system.
What can I cut with a Raw Avantic Extended?
Soft wood, hard wood, chipboard, MDF, plastic, aluminum, sign making, 3D cutting and engraving etc. All materials have different properties and require the right speed and end mill. But after a little practice, it’s easy.

Advantage of our desktop machines
We always try to keep the weight of our machines down. If you compare a larger Avantic that weighs about 150-300kg, a steel machine weighs up to 2 tons in the same dimensions.
A steel machine can only stand on concrete floors, while an Avantic can stand anywhere you want and can also be carried up or down stairs.
A steel machine requires a truck or crane truck that can unload 2 tons. To bring in a steel machine, you need large gates, while an Avantic can be moved with a pallet lift and through doors. If the machine is in the way, it can be moved. Our machines do not have the same mass as expensive industrial machines, but if you cut wood, plastic or aluminum, it is more than enough.

Beveled racks.
This machine comes standard with helical rack and pinion drives. Compared to straight-cut racks, they provide quieter operation, less vibration, and smoother movement throughout the machine’s working area.
The benefits are especially noticeable during rapid movements and jogging, where the machine feels more refined and mechanically calmer. The helical design also creates a smoother transfer of force between the pinion and rack, which helps reduce backlash and gives the machine a more precise overall feel.
Straight racks still work well and can deliver similar cutting results in many applications, but helical rack and pinion takes the overall machine experience to a higher level.

Options for the machine
Several optional upgrades are planned for this machine, allowing you to expand and adapt the system to your needs over time.
One example is an ATC spindle system with automatic tool changing. This solution is still under development, but the idea is that the machine platform should be prepared for future upgrades from the start. This means that selected options can be added later without replacing the entire machine or making major modifications.
You can start with a strong base machine and upgrade step by step as your needs grow, your production changes, or you want to take the next step in your CNC setup.
Software
Cutting with a CNC machine requires 2-3 different software’s such as drawing, CAM (set up the files you drew) and Control software (to run the file). To control this machine we use Mach3. The CAM software we recommend is available in different versions and is called Vectric. the software also has an integrated drawing program for simpler models and you can get by with these two programs in the beginning. Read more about the CAM software below this text. If you outgrow the drawing part in the CAM, you can use more advanced drawing software’s such as Auto CAD or Fusion360 and others. If you are unsure how to do it and what software is needed, we will help you, just ask.
Mach3
Mach3 is the most used control software in the world, which means that there is more support and features for this software than any other. Mach3 looks outdated but we have updated it with our own UI to make it look more modern. The update is completely free for our customers and instructions can be found here: Update Mach3, see image to the right.
UCCNC, Linux or other control software
Avantic is compatible with most control software but we only have settings for Mach3. If you have decent knowledge of control programs, it is easy to set the machine to any option.
To set up the machine
After your machine is delivered, it must be set up with control software to be able to run. We have a guide for this at the top of the page “Configure your machine here” If you run into obstacles or feel you don’t have time, we can do it for you. Send the computer to us while you build your machine. The computer must be version WINDOWS 7-10. The computer does not need to have high performance as it is only supposed to control the machine. We recommend that you have a separate computer to control the machine.

Built-in motors
All motors on the Avantic Extended are enclosed and protected from dust, impact, and everyday workshop exposure. The motor covers are easy to remove, making service and maintenance quick and straightforward.
The motors can also be removed and sent to us for service if needed.
Each motor is equipped with a 2:1 reduction, which provides smoother motion and, above all, increased torque and stronger overall performance.

Redesigned Z-axis
The Z-axis on the Avantic Extended has been redesigned in steel for increased strength and durability, with protected electronics integrated into the assembly. The entire Z-axis unit is removable, making service and maintenance much easier.
The axis can be detached by removing just a few screws, and the cables can be unplugged quickly and easily. Limit switches are mounted outside the axis assembly, so they remain easy to access and service whenever needed.

We build the machines with other machines
We build our machines using modern fiber laser systems, CNC equipment, and laser welding technology. The parts are cut on fiber lasers and then powder-coated in our own ovens to ensure a durable and consistent finish.
Some components are laser-welded in precision jigs to create a strong, accurate, and repeatable construction.
Built by workers for workers
Raw Avantic is manufactured in Sweden and developed by us who previously worked as furniture carpenters. The machine came as an alternative to the expensive, heavy Asia machines that usually have a delivery time of 3-4 months and with questionable support. We always have personal support and guarantees.

Steel plates
Earlier versions used aluminum for all sheet metal parts, but with this model we are moving to steel in all load-bearing sections. This makes the machine slightly heavier, but also significantly more stable. More mass in the right areas gives the machine a calmer motion, reduces unwanted movement, and creates better conditions for clean and accurate cuts.
The steel parts are laser-cut with high precision and powder-coated for long-term durability in demanding environments. The result is a more robust machine built to handle both heavy use and tougher workshop conditions.
For users who want even more rigidity, a steel reinforcement upgrade kit will also be available as an option, designed to make the machine even more torsionally stiff and stable.

Mach3
Mach3 is a control software used to run the machine. There are several CNC control systems available, such as UCCNC, Mach4, LinuxCNC and others. We have chosen to use Mach3 because it is one of the most widely used CNC control programs in the world. This means there are many available features, screensets, macros and community resources, often free to download.
The machine is compatible with most non-Arduino-based CNC control systems, so you can change control software later if you want. Please note that we only provide ready-made settings for Mach3. If you have some CNC knowledge, the machine can also be configured in other control software. If you choose Mach3, our updated user interface is also included. You can read more about this further up on the page.
Closed loop hybrid servo motors
Choose between standard NEMA 24 stepper motors or NEMA 23 closed loop hybrid servo motors. Closed loop hybrid servo motors can self-correct to help prevent the machine from losing position.
Do you need the more expensive hybrid servo motors?
No, not necessarily. Modern stepper electronics are very reliable, and with a correctly set up machine, standard NEMA 24 motors are more than enough for most users. The closed loop option is available for those who prefer the extra feedback and security of a closed loop system.
RawVac XL vacuum table option
RawVac XL is available as an option for selected machines. A vacuum table can be very useful for certain types of work, especially when cutting thin, flat and airtight materials where clamps may get in the way.
However, vacuum work is a different way of holding material compared to normal clamping. For many users and many common CNC jobs, regular clamps, screws or mechanical hold-down methods are still the simplest and most reliable solution.
The standard Evolv version includes a black spoilboard with rails and clamps, as shown in the pictures. RawVac XL is mainly recommended if you regularly work with sheet materials where fast loading, open access to the workpiece and even hold-down over a larger surface are important.
This option uses a 16 mm melamine table surface together with a 5.5 kW vacuum pump. Because of the pump size, the machine must be connected to a suitable electrical supply. We recommend a strong 16A C-curve breaker, and in some installations a 16A D-curve breaker may be required due to startup current.
If your workshop has a weaker electrical supply, please contact us before ordering. In that case, we may recommend a smaller pump or a different vacuum setup. You can read more about the vacuum table system on the RawVac XL product page.
Please note that choosing the vacuum table option may increase the delivery time slightly, as the pump is ordered directly from the factory.
Pre-configured control computer
As an option, the machine can be delivered with a pre-configured control computer. This is normally a used computer that we have checked, cleaned and rebuilt for use as a dedicated CNC control computer.
We recommend using a separate computer only for controlling the machine. A CNC computer is often placed in a dusty workshop environment and should not be used as a normal office or personal computer.
The computer should only contain the control software and the files needed for machining. Keeping the computer clean from unnecessary software reduces the risk of interference, and also makes support easier because we can more easily rule out problems caused by other programs, updates or background processes. In many cases, we use older and well-proven operating systems, such as Windows 7, because they are very stable for control software such as Mach3. For this reason, we normally recommend that the control computer is not connected to the internet. The purpose of the pre-configured computer is to provide stable and simple machine control.
Please note that the instructions and video below are for an older version of the Avantic (2022 version). The machines today look and are slightly different but the instructions are the same. We are working on new videos for the Extended model.
