Product Description
End mill with one “flute”
Shaft diameter: 6mm
Diameter of cutter: 6mm
Cutting length: 25mm Total length: 50mm
Ideal for machining in aluminum, copper and other softer metals.
The number of flutes depends on what you cut into. For example, when cutting in Aluminum you want larger “Chips” because it is a soft metal. A 4-flute cutter tends not to have enough space between flutes to allow the material to evacuate, so they get stuck on the cutter and it stops working well. In this case, a 1-2 flute cutter would be better.
A 4 (or more) flute cutter has several cutting surfaces at each rotation, so it gives a finer surface at the same speed as a 2-flute cutter, you have a cutter spindle with lower speed with, for example, a maximum of 12000RPM is probably a 4-flutes stick cutter to recommend for wood. But for aluminum, you can still have a 2 Flutes cutter when cutting aluminum at about 10000RPM.
Receipt for cutting in aluminum:
Some one experienced can cut aluminum deep and fast, but it takes a while to learn, start slowly and you can do like this.
Use a “One flute” endmill
1.Put the spindle on 11-13000 rpm (200-220Hz)
2.Run the machine at a speed of 500mm / min
3.Set the depth to 0.5mm per revolution
Also spray with lubricant occasionally. Blow away any pieces and shavings with a compressor so that they do not get caught between the work pieces and end mill. If it sounds bad, then aluminum has got stuck on the end mill, blow it off or lubricate while cutting.
After a while you can increase the depth to 1mm but have the same speed on the spindle and machine.
one endmill will last for a whole Raw machine 16 pieces 8-4mm aluminum, if your settings are good.
