Raw Avantic Extended
The extended model is a more powerful version of the Raw Avantic. The plates are now made of steel instead of aluminum. The aluminum profiles are specially designed by us and manufactured just for this machine. The Z-axis is redesigned so that all electronics can be hidden behind protection from dust and shock. The table itself is supported by strong steel tubes.
The motors have also been built in and completely protected. The electronics box has been given a stronger design. The side construction is stronger and more stable. You can also opt for smart electronics with Hybrid servo motors that never lose position and find their way back in the event of any shocks or user errors. Hybrid servomotors communicate with the electronics and stop in the event of a cable break etc. to protect the material you are cutting.
This is the closest we can get to a steel-constructed industrial machine. With this machine you can mass produce parts in a professional environment and with incredible precision. To run the machine, a normal 220 socket with 10 Ampere is sufficient. Picture on the right is a smaller model with MDF table

Describing the machine requires a lot of text so here is a summary, more advanced text below
- The machine is complete, and you can start cutting with it immediately.
- The machine can be ordered in three different sizes, 1690x2750mm with cutting surface: (W) 1250mm x (L) 2460mm, 1500x2000mm with cutting surface: (W) 1100mm x (L) 1750mm, 1180x1350mm with cutting surface: (W) 720 x (L) 1060 mm and 1180x1000mm with cutting surface: (W) 720 x (L) 720mm
- It is not difficult to operate the machine. All the text below makes it look complicated but it’s simple.
- The machine is controlled with any Windows computer via USB port and a program called Mach3 or UCCNC.
If you do not already have it, you must select it in the drop down menu above. The files you want to cut are set in a so-called CAM software. We include a simpler CAM software called Vcarve Cut2D Desktop that you can upgrade if you want. Read more about the software below. - You can draw simpler models in the CAM software we include with the machine, if you need more complex parts you can use whichever CAD program (drawing program) you want, the machine is compatible with most drawing programs on the market.
What can I cut with a Raw Avantic Extended?
Soft wood, hard wood, Mdf, plastic, aluminum, steel, Sign production, 3D carving and engraving etc. Note that aluminum and steel is difficult to learn how to cut and there are better machines for it such as laser or water jet. If you only want to cut aluminum or steel, you should look at more expensive industrial machines. We have cut thousands of meters of Aluminum ourselves with the machines, but it is difficult to learn. The machine is mostly for hardwood, wood, and softer materials such as plastic.

2.2kw spindle
Avantic is delivered with a powerful, air or water-cooled 2.2 kw spindle with integrated inverter that is connected to other electronics. These spindle’s are strong, quiet and reliable. We use these ourselves and have done so for many years. With this spindle you can use inserts from 1-13mm (ER 20). We include a pair of end mills and so you get started.
Protection and dust hood
All our machines are delivered with a protective cover that effectively absorbs dust and any splinters.

Calebration
Raw Avantic Extended has safety, homing and calibration switches for safety and precision. The switches are so-called Proximity switches that have no mechanical parts. Proximity switches are extremely accurate so that the machine can return to its “home” position with the best possible precision. The safety switches ensure that the machine cannot go too far, but stops the system and spindle as soon as the machine goes too far in any direction.

Precision
Precision is a balance between user and machine. It’s about how good your drawings are, spindle, rpm and how fast you cut. At a normal speed of approx. 2-4000m/min, the machine has the same accuracy as expensive industrial machines. Repeatability is: +/- 0.01 mm – 0.005 mm .
The machine is built to mainly cut wood, plastic and similar materials. You can cut aluminum but it requires experience regardless of the machine you use.
Is it difficult to work with a CNC machine?
No, it’s simple. Raw Avantic is one of the easiest machines to work with on the market. We have placed great emphasis on making the machines as easy to operate as possible. You do not need to have previous knowledge or education. The only difficult thing is to draw your parts, the rest is easy. Once you have cut your first piece, you will understand. Watch our videos on the website and Youtube to see how easy it is to work with a Raw Avantic machine

20mm linear guide rail
Avantic is delivered with a full 20mm wide guide rails and blocks of Hiwin type. Most machines in this price range use 15mm, but we think that 20mm gives a more stable machine. Guide rails have an extreme precision that ensures that the axles do not have any “play” Guide rails are preferable to other solutions.
On each block (12 pcs) there is a grease nipple. You can choose to lubricate the machine through them or use spray lubrication that you spray on the rails themselves.

Consumption table (Waste board)
The consumption table is made of moisture-resistant black MDF or regular MDF and consists of two tables, a base table and a consumption table. You can easily cut out a new consumable table in MDF or other material after you wear out the old one.
The consumption table lasts about 6 months. Files for the new consumption table can be downloaded from the website. The table is of the infinity type, which means that you can run longer sections than the table by pushing it forward between runs.

Stepper motors
You can choose between standard 3A motors or Hybrid servo motors at 5A. The machine is made of aluminum and has a low weight, and the strength of the motors is sufficient regardless of choice. The motors are so strong that a full-grown person could stand on the axis while the machine cuts. The choice of the parts is decisive for whether you need 3-phase or a regular 220 outlet. We have scaled everything down so that 220 volts and 10 Amps are enough. The motors have a direct drive against the rack to reduce backlash
Repeatability: +/- 0.01 mm – 0.005 mm, Backlash: +/- 0.01
Software
Cutting with a CNC machine requires 2-3 different software’s such as drawing, CAM (set up the files you drew) and Control software (to run the file). To control this machine we use Mach3. The CAM software we recommend is available in different versions and is called Vectric. the software also has an integrated drawing program for simpler models and you can get by with these two programs in the beginning. Read more about the CAM software below this text. If you outgrow the drawing part in the CAM, you can use more advanced drawing software’s such as Auto CAD or Fusion360 and others.
Mach3
Mach3 is the most used control software in the world, which means that there is more support and features for this software than any other. Mach3 looks outdated but we have updated it with our own UI to make it look more modern. The update is completely free when you purchase a machine from us.
With this machine you can switch to another option whenever you want, the machine is compatible with all software that uses more advanced electronics.

How we think about CNC electronics and mechanics
We want our machines to be able to run on 220 volts and not 3 phase. Therefore, we build machines with 2.2kw spindle and nema23 or 24 motors. Machines that run on Nema 34 motors and a 2.2kw spindle often go up to 3-phase to cope with the load. Low-weight machines like the ones we build can do without problems with Nema 23 or 24 motors and Nema 32 motors are redundant
We prefer to build our machines with direct drive to rack and pinion, which means we have no transmission between motor and rack. The reason for this is to remove as much “Backlash” as possible and the way we do it has almost eliminated backlash completely, see our video on this. With the correct ratio on the gear wheel to the rack and settings on the electronics, this is no problem at all.
Many claim that direct drive should be avoided, which is completely wrong. Those who claim this usually have ball screw drive on their machines and ball screw drive usually have direct drive too, the ball screw is mounted directly against the motor. Very rarely do you see a ball screw drive with a belt in between and the reason is backlash. Those with a belt between often have a ratio of 1:1, which is also direct drive. Many also have a gear to increase the speed of the ball screw, which is a direct opposite, so that argument does not hold. This of course applies to low-weight machines and not steel machines. Our machines very rarely break down, we have hardly changed parts at all on the 100s of machines we have built since 2009.
There are of course solutions with ratios of 3:1, 5:1 or 50:1. If you want this on your machine, contact us. But you will have a machine with worse precision. Try our version first, the gearbox can be put there afterwards and if you are not satisfied, there are solutions for that.

Steel plates
Previously, all plates were aluminum. With this model, we switch to sheet steel, which is much heavier and more stable. A heavier machine provides more stability and thus better cuts. The profiles are still in aluminum to keep the weight down. The machine table itself is held up by strong steel tubes to avoid “Flex” for tougher jobs.
The steel plates are laser cut and powder coated to withstand tougher grip.

More powerful and smarter electric box
The electric box is completely rebuilt for the Extended models so that they look and are more professional. The electrical box for hybrid servo electronics is slightly larger than in the picture. All plugs can be pulled out for possible service if necessary. The machines are still adapted for standard sockets of 220 volts and 10 Ampere.
We have also reserved a place for a fifth axis which can be used for rotating axis etc.

Specially designed aluminum profiles
We have designed and produced specially cast aluminum profiles for the Extended model. The profiles are stronger than regular aluminum profiles and fully adapted for our CNC machines
The entire machine is now manufactured according to our wishes. the result is a unique and extremely strong machine that can be compared to steel machines in strength and precision.
CAM software
Previously, a CAM software was included for the machine, but most users have their own software, so this is now an option that can be purchased from us or directly from the manufacturer. Below video shows 2Dcut Desktop from Vectric which is perfect to start with. You can later upgrade to Vcarve PRO if you outgrow it and you only pay the difference.
With Cut2D Desktop, you can cut out everything except 3D models. You can import Vector files that you find or buy online, engrave and cut on both sides of the material, etc. You can also import your own files that you draw in any drawing software as long as you get the file in .DXF format. All of this may sound complicated but it’s easy after you do it a few times. See the instructional video below for Vcarve products. The parts you can cut out must be a maximum of 600x600mm, so if you need to cut larger parts, you must upgrade the software to Cut2D PRO or Vcarve PRO, you can read more about it if you visit the product on our website.

Built-in motors
The image above is of a Raw Avantic Extended AI where the motors are more powerful and slightly larger. On an AI model you can see the motor but on an Extended they are completely built-in. Both models have much better dust protection than on our previous models.

Rebuilt Z-axis
The Z-axis of an Extended machine has been rebuilt so that it is lower and has protected electronics. The cable to the spindle is now better protected. The probe socket is also more easily accessible than before.

Stronger base
The base/consumption table is now about 4cm thicker than before and makes the whole machine much more stable. this is important if you are cutting in tougher materials such as Aluminum or steel.
Support
Raw Avantic is manufactured in Sweden and developed by us who previously worked as furniture carpenters. The machine came as an alternative to the expensive, heavy Asia machines that usually have a delivery time of 3-4 months and with questionable support. We always have personal support and guarantees.
CE certified
This machine has a genuine European CE certification.

Why an Aluminum Machine?
Aluminum machines do not weigh as much as a steel machine. If you compare a larger Avantic that weighs about 150-200kg, a steel machine weighs up to 2 tons in the same dimensions.
A steel machine can only stand on concrete floors while an Avantic can stand wherever you want and can also be carried up or down stairs. A steel machine requires a truck that can unload 2 tons and wide doors, while an Avantic can be moved with a pallet lift and through doors. If the machine is in the way, it can be moved. Aluminum does not have the same precision as steel, but if you cut in wood, plastic or aluminum it will be more than enough.
